Meanwhile all you hear about is how police work is so dangerous and they need a fucking M1 Abrams so they can "go home at night". That is all a load of shit, being a roofer is more dangerous than being a cop. Don't believe me, feel free to look it up. Hell being a cop is not even in the top ten most dangerous professions, last I looked, being a garbage man was more dangerous.
      Just this year:

165 law enforcement officers were killed in the line of duty in 2014.

To me both of those are perfectly reasonable. I just refuse to fall for the line of bullshit that stepping out on the streets of America is like being in Baghdad or Afghanistan because it just isn't true. If it was you wouldn't have old men with 50 inch waists and tiny women wearing badges.
I'm sure those you described aren't going in service every day to answer calls and face felons, they are sitting behind a desk drawing the same pay/retirement as those that do face the dangers.

In my opinion, if you have a desk job, instead of being eligible to retire in 20, you should have to work 30 years.

I'll bet those are the ones dodging calls.

"Oh, there's a burglary of a vehicle report? I'll take that one........" Or any such call where the suspect is long gone.... Just ask any street cop.....

Officials in a small Central Texas town voted Saturday to fire a officer who shot and killed an armed 93-year-old woman

HEARNE, Texas — Officials in a small Central Texas town voted Saturday to fire a police officer who shot and killed an armed 93-year-old woman during a confrontation at her home.

The city council's unanimous vote to dismiss Officer Stephen Stem came after a meeting that lasted less than 30 minutes, KBTX-TV reported.

Mayor Ruben Gomez had said he would recommend the termination of Stem, who shot and killed Pearlie Golden on Tuesday night. Gomez promised that to demonstrators who marched to city hall protesting the shooting of "Miss Sulie," as many residents called Golden.

Hearne police have said in a statement that Golden "brandished a gun" when Stem arrived, but have declined to comment further. Stem was on administrative leave while Texas Rangers investigated the shooting.

But Golden's nephew, Roy Jones, told the TV station in the Bryan-College Station area that his aunt became upset when she was denied a driver's license renewal and armed herself when he refused to return her car keys. Jones said he called 911, and he said Golden fired two shots before the officer who responded shot her.Authorities say a revolver believed to be the weapon Golden had at the time of the shooting was found at the scene.

Robertson County District Attorney Coty Siegert said because the case is still under investigation, he could neither confirm nor deny that Golden fired her gun. He said a preliminary autopsy shows Golden was shot twice in the body and grazed by a third bullet.

Stem's attorney, Robert McCabe, said he believes his client's actions were justified under the circumstances and called the mayor's comments inappropriate and unprofessional.

"He probably knows less facts about what occurred than I do," McCabe said.

There are 42 deaths this year, with the second highest reason being automobile accidents. This website also includes OTHER FUCKING COUNTRIES like Puerto Rico and the Panama Canal zone.

A whole 105 officers died in the US and other countries in 2013 according to that website. It's a fucking pandemic!!

Hmm, maybe if cops had to worry about losing their job EVERY time they pull their weapon, it'd stay in its holster more often.
