  • Police kill 93 year old Texas woman after she fails driving test

..and decides she's not taking any shit anymore.. Wow. This is how I want to go out at 93.

Pearlie Golden, a 93-year old from Hearne, Texas, failed her driving test this week. When her nephew tried to take her keys away, she pulled out a revolver, waving it in the air. The police were called, and in the end, five shots were fired, at least two hitting Golden, killing her.

Golden went to renew her driver's license earlier this week, but the state of Texas denied her. She was obviously upset about it, and having her nephew try to take away her keys made her even angrier.

So angry that she took out a revolver.

Her nephew called the police, who responded to the scene. After asking her to drop the weapon and Golden refusing, an officer discharged his weapon. Witnesses say they heard at least five shots, and CNN says at least two of them hit Golden. She was taken to the hospital and pronounced dead at 10 PM Tuesday evening.

Locals are stunned. Golden was known as a "sweet, sweet, woman" A neighbor said she "didn't see Pearlie shooting anyone."

The officer involved, Stephen Stem, was involved in another fatal shooting in early 2013. He was cleared of any wrongdoing in that incident and has been placed on paid administrative leave. The Hearne City Council will have a special meeting on Saturday to determine what, if any, disciplinary measures will happen to Stem. This could include termination.

Hearne is a railroad town that is the biggest pos town ever. Not suprised about this from the officers I have met who work at hearne.

If an officer is involved in multiple fatal shootings, he should be fired just to be sure he's not trigger happy.

So because a officer has been unfortunate enough to be in two deadly force incidents he should be punished? Regardless of if he saved some ones life or was being shot at? Sounds rational.

The lady was holding a gun. Did she point it at the officers? If not I dont think she should have been shot. If she started to wave it in their direction its on her.

Yeah, I'm not in the FTP crowd per se - but I'm on the cautious side - but that seems extreme.

I really don't think it matters how old or if that person is a woman, you pull out a gun and start acting all fucked up to the point where lawdogs have to be called and you don't obey the PD's commands, you will more than likely be shot on the spot.

Lets just say I know a guy that has been involved in two and they were more then justified.

Right? If the headline had been "Police Kill Armed 30-Year Old Man Waving Gun" no one would care.

                      Edit:
“There’s no justification. Any police officer would know not to kill a 93-year-old, fragile woman when they could have backed off,”

                      What. The. Hell.
