True, it would be pushing it and would have to be pretty quick hits.. Especially if including the Valley of Fire. We usually go for 5-7 days at a time and try to spend the bulk of the daylight hours off strip.

There are a ton of cheap and even free stuff to do, but it takes some research and planning. Thankfully Leah enjoys doing that stuff. You can also find a ton of sources for cheap or free show tickets. We usually go with a list of 20 or so options, then each day when we get up we take a few minutes to plan what we want to do or see.

One thing we still haven't done, but planned to a couple of times, was spend time at the pool. I just have a hard time doing that because I feel like I am wasting time there doing something I could do here.

One of our best trips was our first one together. I rented a Jeep and we spent a whole day exploring Bitter Springs Trail Back Country Byway:

Bitter Springs Trail is about 45 miles northeast of Las Vegas in southeast Nevada. It can be accessed from I-15 by taking Exit 75 and then traveling east. The byway is 28 miles long and follows Bitter Springs Road, which is a single-lane dirt road that requires a two-wheel drive, high-clearance vehicle. The byway usually remains open year-round.

Bitter Springs Trail travels through the foothills of the Muddy Mountains, past abandoned mining operations, and brightly colored sandstone hills. One of the more interesting sites encountered along the route is the Bitter Ridge, a sweeping arc that cuts for eight miles across a rolling valley. Side roads invite the byway traveler to explore the many canyons, but unless you're in a four-wheel drive vehicle, it is not recommended that you attempt to take these side roads.

Remnants of the American Borax mining operation can be seen along the byway. Several mine buildings still stand, along with 30-foot deep cisterns that were once used to hold water, mine tunnels, and adits (horizontal passages). Evidence of early human inhabitants is also found along the byway; on many of the canyon walls are pictographs and petroglyphs.
Not sure why that says 2 wheel drive, when we did it (7 years ago) it was definitely a 4x4 required thing. There are a lot of washouts and the road constantly changes (not maintained). We did some Geocaching out there, which was a blast.

Edit: Here's a pretty good video someone made last year..

Well had a blast! Not enough time to do everything we wanted to do. Over all - free beer kept coming at the Casino's, lots of hot women, we caught the Zumanity show (front row) it was pretty cool, food can get expensive. Did a lot of walking and saw crazy chet...from drunks sleeping on the street to fights between women.

Lessons learned - dont try to save money flying with a cheap airline! We got delayed 3 hours each way flying through a cheap airline called Spirit...never again.

LOL, Spirit. Was the delay due to the heavy handed sales pitch for their credit card?

I'll be out there with a couple of buddies in 3 weeks. Anything you recommend that hasn't been mentioned yet?

Yeah but everything was with-in walking distance so really no need for it.

Yeah, if you're spending your whole time on the strip there is no real reason to have a car. We always get one because we know we are not staying on strip the whole time.

Plus, you are saving on Taxi fare to and from the airport, and it gives you an opportunity to eat off the strip, which will usually save you even more money.

I went and had some of the best pizza in my life at this tiny parlor inside the Cosmo. It is not listed anywhere. There are no signs to announce it. It is simply down a hallway that has a bunch of photos on the wall. The menu is a double sided photo copy and all it says is "Pizza" on it. I'm sure a google search will reveal its exact location. But I highly recommend it. I was just there in March.

Anyone else know what I'm talking about?

Yeah we were going to use the rental to head out to the Hoover D, or to Pawn starts but there was to much going on to leave the strip. Next time we are going to wonder outside of the Strip.

Same here , I always rent one. Have yall gone up by the NASCAR track when yall are up there? There is a road course where you can rent the exotic cars. Pretty sweet thing. I think texas has it now to. We are going up there in july and I have me a McLaren wanting on me to drive.
