Eric.. a generational thing.. The majority of the guys on this site were raised in an era were most, but not all racial and ethnic slang words weren't used. Being born in 1951, I grew up with those words. We were taught what was proper and what wasn't. When working in the steel mills, we jokingly called each other wop, dago, kike, pollock,chink, mick, rube and didn't get pissed about it. Now, a man of color was called "Black" . We were taught that the "N" word was verboten, and was only used to refer to the welfare users. However, I remember my dad saying " you don't have to be black to be a "N" " in refering to the whites who were on welfare. To be on welfare back then was considered a disgrace to the man and the family. Hell, I truly believe you hear the "N" word used more now that what I ever heard in my youth and younger days..
