I work near 35E and Oak Lawn. It takes about 40ish minutes to get to work from I20 and 360. Anything within a 1hr commute is the norm for me. As long as I can get to the northern boundary of 635 within an hr, I might be good. This is assuming I find my next gig further north to make up for the commute.

Krum, Sanger, Aubrey are all too far out there. We found a sub in Little Elm on the west side of the lake but the few that we called on, they wanted $60k for what looked like half an acre. Had that been in Frisco ISD, I would've given it more thought but that just seemed a tad steep. I'll start checking out Celina and see what we find.

I believe its almost $20.00 round trip from Prosper to Downtown and about hour and twenty minutes each way. Probably two hours during traffic time with no wrecks or icy cool stuntaz holding up traffic...

Well the more we think about it, the more we want something further out. We love the houses in Prosper and Little Elm but we can't get use to the 0 lot sizes. Even the premium lots are small due to the footprint of the house.

We looked at a couple of houses in Van Alstyne...but DAMN that's far from society. I've only been out there once. We didn't like the houses we looked at but we loved the space. The wife checked out a couple of houses today that are pretty nice. I just don't know if I can adapt to that kind of drive and being away from civilization. The other factor is what in the hell will the kids do out there ( 8 and 10). Truthfully the drive may not matter too much due to future plans with employment options but for now, I'd be driving to almost downtown Dallas. Working from home a couple of days a week wouldn't be a problem although I don't know what internet service is available out there.

We may have to start looking in Melissa and Anna to possibly bring it in a little.

I live in crossroads and work in irving off 114 and O'connor. Takes about 45 min each way but it's worth it to be outside of the hustle and bustle of the city....
"Laws that forbid the carrying of arms...disarm only those who are neither inclined nor determined to commit crimes...Such laws make things worse for the assaulted and better for the assailants; they serve rather to encourage than to prevent homicides, for an unarmed man may be attacked with greater confidence than an armed man." - Thomas Jefferson, 1776

Most people I talk to have nothing but good things to say about you, but you sure come across as a condescending prick. Do you have an inferiority complex you've attempted to overcome through overachievement? Or were you fondled as a child?

You and slow99 should date. You both have passive aggressiveness down pat.

I'm in Van Alstyne off 3356, it's not that bad - especially if you're thinking Anna. I'd check the crime rates there too.

I'm on the west side of 75 about 3 miles back. We dig it and it is plenty nice. However, check to the east of the thriving downtown city and there is SUPERB housing there with a lot of farms around as well.

Hope ya like copperheads though, they seem to love VA.

This if from '11 - but honestly living in VA is not bad. It used to be better but it seems like more and more are moving north so traffic is a little heavier all the way up.

Also, check out Howe, Gunter, Weston and Celina.

A good friend of mine lives in Celina (on Preston about 15 miles north of 380), and works in Las Colinas (Beltline and 635).

She has to take her young son to daycare in the morning, so she can't leave the house until around 8. It is an hour and 45 minutes just to drive to work and the same for the return trip home. Her husband works in downtown Dallas and leaves the house at 3:45am to skip traffic, work a full day, and pick up their son in the afternoon.

It's such an insane schedule that I could never live with it. I guess that's the price you pay for living in the country and making city money.

Yeah, I had to sell my truck cause I landed a 4 month deal in Lancaster, TX. 1000 or so a month in fuel.

Typically the worst I have to worry about is Plano, which is 45 minutes to an hour. No traffic, believe it or not is only a 35 minute drive.

The upsides to Howe/VA is that they are right on/near 75. However, I think they are going to blow up in population soon.

Celina/Gunter: They are blowing up too, but don't have an interstate running through them. They do have DNT/121...etc nearby, but with construction and all their damned lights it takes you 30 minutes to get to one.

That's not worth it at all.

This is kind of why I would like to move out there...at some point in time it wont be so far out.

Me and the snakes are going to have problems though!

Is she way on the north side of Celina in some new development? Celina's only 8 miles north of 380.
