That's only on CH-53s The C-130 is one of the most reliable aircraft I've flown on. I have zero issue getting on one.

You are right about some aircraft though. If the 53 wasn't leaking like a sieve don't get on it. It's probably empty.

I heard they finally ran out of JATO's for "Fat Albert".. Skydrol... man how I hate that stuff! We had problems when we first started flying the A-300-600R into the islands.. Pilots were forgetting to turn on the cooling fans for the brakes.. boiling the hyd fluid in the lines! Hyd fluid came out yellow and very acidic.. Gross Leak checks were a nightmare! Had to do a complete system flush of all 3 hyd systems.. App 80 gallons per a/c!

I also hate when airshows come to town. We get stuck working shitty hours and on the weekends so a bunch of folks can come and fuck up the flight line for us then we get to do a massive flightline wide FOD Walk to pick up all the damn garbage people leave around.

Last one I worked we found used diapers, paper cups, hell one guy found a fuckin used condom on the line.
That's awesome. Was that at Alliance? If so I photographed that one.

Yup Alliance in 2009. Not long after that they put the aircraft into out hangar for their phase Maintenance. They found a crack in the wing box.
The same thing that caused a Firefighting C-130 to crash. So it probably had that crack while I was on it doing 60 degree banks and JATO takeoffs.

Yeah the wings folded up on that plane.

No, I'm at VR-59. They do the phase maintenance at 234 for Fatty. I'm really not sure why they chose to use our hangar this time. All I can figure is that it's prettier than theirs and they might want to take some VIPs on a tour.

I thought ya'll left Fort Worth and went somewhere else? Ya'll used to share hangar 1050 with us. Then that other VR unit moved into the hangar across the flight line where they renovated it and added sections to it.

                      Yep!

And 234's sister squadron is supposed to move into our old spaces....at least according to the latest scuttle butt rumors.

They've been saying that for a few years now. We'll see what happens. I don't see them doing it. It would make a super squadron of sorts and Fort Worth is a good central US location for a bunch of C-130s but you would think you'd want to spread your assets out a bit.

That other unit is VMGR-452 the "Yankees" up in Newburgh, NY at an Air National Guard base.

Interesting. I know 234 has started transitioning to the J model. That's an impressive bird!

I was out on Lake Worth yesterday working on a boat dock and the Blue Angels were out there practicing all day. I'd only ever seen pics and vids of them, in person the stuff they were doing was amazing!

It was a really good show today. So awesome to see them in the air again. All the performers were good though. Heck, they started the show off by having the CO of the base parachute in with the Leap Frogs. Lol
