  • NAS Fort Worth air show

Their air show is this weekend and the Blue Angels are in town. Free admission, free parking. It is on federal property though so keep your weapons, drugs, pets and attitudes at home.

When I was stationed there we were voluntold to work the parking area... one of the worst weekends ever. Until we got to finish off all the beer leftover from the beer garden.

Still cool to watch Big Bertha though.

When I was at NAS kingsville they let us ride in fat Albert on their JATO practice runs. That was a huge rush.

That would be a killer ride...I would imagine it being similar to taking off at John Wayne airport in Orange County, the rate of climb at take off is nuts.

I was wondering why I could see them flying in pairs yesterday afternoon in lake worth.

When I was stationed in Pensacola we got to see them practice quite often.

They seemed to prefer to buzz the barracks early Sunday morning, seemed to know that us Enlisted fellows had been out the previous night.

I can't wait to take my daughter tomorrow! She's going to go nuts when she sees the Blues. Fat Albert is currently broke and sitting in our hangar. I heard a whisper about a landing gear issue. I'm not sure if it will ready for the show or not.

Brn N Rubr are you with 234? I used to enjoy having Fat Albert come in for their yearly phase inspections. Got to ride on it up at Alliance back in 2009 on their 4th to last JATO shot.

I'm sitting in the back by the paratroop door

I also hate when airshows come to town. We get stuck working shitty hours and on the weekends so a bunch of folks can come and fuck up the flight line for us then we get to do a massive flightline wide FOD Walk to pick up all the damn garbage people leave around.

Last one I worked we found used diapers, paper cups, hell one guy found a fuckin used condom on the line.

I was at NASP from late 97 to late 2000. Every Tuesday was full practice, interesting times.
They were returning from a show once, and we were out on the southern parallel runway doing some gear maintenance. They were instructed to land on the northern parallel, but still landed on the southern (even after being waved off). We were left scrambling to get the personnel off the runway, and they just barely missed all of the equipment as they were rolling out. A couple of days later, the "Boss" came by our shop and gave us 4 cases of beer, and a heartfelt apology. Lol

This times a million. If you go please be respectful. The young guns that live on the base get the short end of the stock during air shows as it is
