Then why hand over/pretend to hand over a military id in the first place?

I'm kind of wondering why he'd offer his CAC in the first place. Most civilians don't know what one is or where the information is. I get military IDs at the brewery all the time and state law says they are acceptable forms of ID to verify age for alcohol purposes. However it wouldn't be the first thing you should hand over to a police officer. I guess maybe his wallet could have been in the car or something but it's a little weird. If you aren't on base or in uniform there isn't really a reason to use it.

I use mine when restaurants and the like ask for ID sometimes because I'm hoping for a discount btw! I am a cheap bastard. However my ID and a CAC are very different looking.

Police in this country have forgotten that they are basically civil servants that answer to and work for the people. Now days though the police force is basically a para military force operating on us soil. The system is broken the militarization of police and their tactics has to stop. I know that there are individuals that are good, im also sure that there were some nazi ss that were nice guys as well..

How would the office be able to do that if you snatch it back when he tries to review it?

Plenty of civilians hold clearances as do I (My version of being a government leech if I lose my job...etc..etc), and going to jail is a big deal for my career as well.

A cop doing a crap job is no better/worst for a service member than it is for a civilian busting his ass everyday supporting the leeches. A record is a record no matter what for future employment.

Obama will say the cop acted stupidly. Just show your dl with your name and that address, problem over. Thank the neighbor for looking out for you. Funny a cop subdued a military guy though, guess he doesn't eat donuts

No where in the article does it say he had the id as usual you interpret things incorrectly. The article even states he didn't hand it over...

Actually, you're wrong. The police officer reported that the gentleman showed his ID and then withdrew his hand to put it up at which point the officer got pissed that he didn't get to see what a military ID looks like so that he can pick up better level of bar rats, and tackled the guy.

HUH? not understanding what you are trying to say. Why not give the DL that has the home address on it? Does a military ID have a home address on it ?

Ok, let's play it like this...Cops get a call from your concerned neighbor that someone is breaking into your house. EXCEPT, you're actually at work and someone has broken into your home and your wife is there alone and is now a hostage. Cops show up and investigate, the guy answers the door stays cool and say's FU I live here, and cops leave...You still all good with this idea?
