Yeah I'm on then fence. I like the Tahoe look a lot better but the expedition I'm finding come more upgraded and generally with less milage. I've decided to just pay cash on a cheaper one that'll last about 4 years. I have a charger and ram too one of which will be traded in whenever my wife goes and gets a new car this month.

With that budget I sure wouldn't be looking at a first gen expedition as you can easily find a 2nd gen for that price with a little hunting around.

Whats the best bang for buck on a used SUV? Needing to get another vehicle and would like to keep it under 15,000. I really like the tahoes and find them all day in around the $6-7000 range but have no clue what kind of milage they are good for. Usually they're in the 140,000+ club on miles and i would assume on their last leg around that? If i can find a nice SUV around $6-7000 that would allow me to keep my two current vehicle that are paid off. So what should i look at and what should i stay away from? Thanks!

Look at toyota, they run forever (if you do your maintenance) and hold their value really well

Well I ended up buying a decked out Mercury Mountaineer today. Got it for $4500 at 125k. Its the 4.6 engine. Felt really smooth however when I got home and was parking it I could hear a slight ticking sound from under the vehicle. I didn't hear it when I was in the open but I guess I could hear it because of the walls. With the very limited info does that sound like exhaust? I didn't hear it when I had the hood up only when it was parked at the crib.

Looks like it's something with the ac. When I turn it off the noise stops. I don't hear anything inside and the thing blows ice cold. But outside while its running you can hear a ticking that increases with rpms and goes away if its off.

Hmmmm not sure on the belt routing on it but I'd first check the tension or idler pulleys. It may be ok till the compressor puts a,Lil more strain on it. That or the ac clutch. Just a thought. I'd run it till it gets worse making it easier to spot.
