ZestFest... has anyone gone this week?

I think I'm gonna go tomorrow and check it out, I love spicy food. Has anyone been? How was it? Lots of food samples? I've never been to one before.

I went a few years ago and was not at all impressed. Very few samples, mostly white trash selling shit they make and bottle themselves it seemed! Did pick up 2 bottles of hot sauce that were good, but I have no desire to ever go again, neither does the friend I went with.

Never seen any white trash looking people trying to sell stuff. the people that show up are from all over the US and attend chili pepper fests trying to get their product and name out there and have good product overall. I'm prob going tomorrow.

What I really hate is that it's been in the same spot forever, and now Irving opens a new convention center and get's them to have it there, so now I have to drive the fuck out to Las Colinas to go to it. That's BS right there on Zest Fest's behalf.

So we went Sunday about 11:00, the new convention center seemed pretty nice and there were plenty of different vendors set up. There were all kinds of different hot sauces and salsas, chili mixes, soup mixes, jerky etc. Some of the stuff was really good and I bought a few different things. I like my hot sauces to be hot so I thought this would be a place to go, everything I tried was within reasonable levels of hotness, except one.

Jesters hot sauce won the golden chili award this year for hottest sauce, that is a fucking understatement, also a little tidbit of info that might have been nice to have before I tried it! I made my way to their booth and the first sample they gave out was something kinda warm and sweet, not bad. Then I asked the guy if they had anything hotter and he looked pissed, lol, He gives me a little dribble of their "hot" sauce and it starts out slow and creeps up on you, was pretty hot and actually made my GF sweat and her whole face was red, lol. Finally as we were moving on his buddy working the booth hands me a straw with a DROP of some black liquid at the end of it, I am thinking WTF is this and taste it. HOLY SHIT! I have never tried anything so fucking hot in my life, I almost shit myself on the spot. I had to go to the bathroom because I was about to puke, had to wash my face and hands to try and cool off. WOW WTF was that?? After that I had had enough and we decided to go since we had already seen most of everything. My mouth was still burning 2 fucking hours later at home.

All in all it was a good experience and look forward to next year, although no more of that black shit.

I didn't make it there until 2, still a big crowd. There were lots of samples and the people were really friendly. Nothing I tried was really spicey, all pretty mild. I didn't try everything though because some of the lines were too long. I enjoyed it.

Went Sunday did the CaJohns Execution Station the Black Mamba was some hot stuff being extract based tasted awful also.
