I've got 2 pair of Larry Mahan from cavenders I'm happy with. Bull leather are coming up on 4 and needing a new sole soon. The ostrich are 2 and look new still. I do need to have a nail fixed in those though. It pokes my foot occasionally

A local Cavenders may be able to take care of that nail for you. We kept some repair tools on site. It either needs to be taken out or cut and filed. We could do that sort of stuff in house. If you can get something on top of it that is long enough, most times you can bend it or drive it down.

I tried a pair of Lucchese on at the store and really didn't care for the way they fit at all, but I'm pretty sure I have a fat/flat foot with a narrow heal. So far I've stuck with Ariat as the most comfortable for me.

Some day further down the road in life I will have ML Leddys build me a pair of custom boots, but that will come after some nice watches and other indulgences.

I have the exact same ones...great boots. I wear ariats for everyday boots, and they're extremely comfortable...they're almost like wearing a nice pair of running shoes.

Speaking of boots.. What would you guys recommend for a low cost work type boot? Under $100 preferably (if even realistic). They would only get occasional use, so should last a while. No steel toe needed, or anything like that. Looking for comfort more than anything.

I would have to disagree. I think those are one of the best looking boots out.

Justin has an inexpensive line, Stampede IIRC. Non steel toe were ~$100 about a year ago. They are decent boots. A lot of the issues they had when they first released them are resolved. If you have a big/wide foot, Ariat may not work for you. Wolverine are OK and they can be had in the $100 and under. Though we got a LOT of them on defect returns.

Combat boots with a composite toe from somewhere like Botach or LA Police Supply.

Tried on several Lucchese boots and they just don't fit right. Ariat fit like a glove and are very comfortable for myself. These are some other ones I was looking at.

Stay FAR away from ariat caiman's! Every pair I have seen has split!
