          Went to the hardware store today and made up a 40ft 240 volt plug to hook up to the panel in the garage to at least run the lights, tv, internet, fridge..just in case we lose our power and tested out the generator to make sure all is well and it fired right up.

            That's what a friend made for mine. He showed me how to wire it to my breaker box and I can run everything except the clothes dryer and electric oven.

              Hopefully you have a main disconnect switch that cuts off the utility feed? Or do you have to pull the panel apart and remove the feed lines to hook up?

                  I just go outside and manually pull the two levers on the boxes that are on the wall.
