Another favorite after racing someone was explaining that it was stock motor and that gears and suspension can make up for a lot.
What is even worse is trying to get the chain store monkeys to be able to cross reference a part number.

ex: the rear transmission output seal on an 01 lightning is the same part as a super duty. Their system doesnt show that, but you can call and ask them to cross over a part number and they dont come up with it. They can find it if you ask for on off a super duty truck, though.

Try asking one for a EGR/MAP sensor for a Crown Vic. It is only offered on the PI units and can also confuse the Ford Dealerships.

Many casino's will not even take the second bet ($16k), let alone the third ($256K).

            I've parlayed a winning $1 Yo, and hit a second. Quick $240.
I knew I misplaced a decimal point in my head figuring it out! But yeah, you know it's bullshit when the third bet is wayyyyy beyond any table max.

It doesn't have the godawful 'cocoa' brown interior, or the gold Sportone trim, hubcaps, and grille of a Fury and no holes in the Sportone kickups where the Fury badges would have gone. What you can't see is if the car has the Fury-standard 318ci LA poly with dual quads (FLP8 engine stamping), or the optional Golden Commando dual quad 350 B (L350). No indication if it has heavy duty suspension and 12" drums.

The car does at least have dual mirrors, front and rear bumper wings, and the appropriate fender mouldings that came standard on the '58 Fury. Of course these items were optional for a Belvedere or even Savoy, as was the V-800 dual quad GC350.

Except... that... is... the entire point of the thread.
And if you notice, my initial comment was that the neighbor thought my brother's white 56 Chevy 150 looked like Christine from the movie(A car that was never produced like that from the factory). The picture i posted was a 58 Fury customized to look like Christine, the movie car I was referring to.

Yeah, and on prop bets they often limit you to "winning" the table limit, as opposed to betting it. So even worse.

I read a story about a dude parlaying boxcars and hitting 3 times. As I recall the initial bet was $1. He was a "high roller" though, so they allowed the third bet. Over $30k on 3 rolls. It actually hit 5 times in a row but he didn't place the bet until after the 2nd hit (started off just trying to break the craps streak). They did not let him parlay the $30k, lol, which actually worked out to his favor.

I rarely play prop bets, but when I do and start with $1, I usually parlay the first hit. Doesn't usually work out, but have hit a couple of times.

                  • Ill go into a parts store looking for something for my dirt car and they will ask me what its going on. I'll tell them its an 80s chevy G body with a 90s Cadillac body, with a 360 cubic inch SBC, floater 9 inch, 4 speed manual transmission. They can never find me the right part.

                    • Just heard one tonight. I went to Autozone to buy a battery for my Mazda and as I'm paying I notice that they have Optima red tops "on sale" for $209. I make the comment on how I remember them being $140 back in the day and how their quality has been suffering lately. At this point he tells me that they are still of the same quality. I explained that the last two I had did not live up to expectations.

Here is where it gets good. He proceeded to explain that Optima uses different quality lead and acid depending on what retailer purchases them. So the Optima that is bought at Sam's is not of the same quality of the one bought at Autozone. BTW, that was the parts manager.

Also Not the battery style explanation, about why something is of lower quality than what's for sale where I am.

This comes up in more places than one may think. Not just car shit.

A real parts guy that gets into stuff like that himself would not have much problem finding parts for you. Unfortunately, most real parts guys don't stick around for shitty pay, or end up as commercial managers and don't deal with walk in customers.
