I went and looked the car over today. It looks decent. Just going to need a paint job and some interior redone before long to make it look like it should. So to me, the selling price is not in the ballpark.

What are you expecting to spend on a clean unmolested 86/87? Reason I ask is because they are getting kinda hard to find in stock condition...in fact a lot of em are beat to shit, leak everything, rattle over bumps from worn or abused suspension, and the interiors are trash with Autozone guage pods all over the dash and they smoke and run like shit. The nice ones lately that aren't torn to pieces are asking between 15-25+.

To be honest I have not looked at the Turbo Buick market in several years. I sold my turbo cars and knew that I could not watch the market without wanting another one. But to buy a car for 14k and then spend ~6k for paint and another ~2k on interior.....not for me. Not right now. The next few cars I buy will be "done".

I bought a viper gts a few months ago and it gets WAY too much attention. 90 percent of the time it's someone that doesn't know anything about cars. Also everyone tells me stories of how they and everyone they know have outran one sometime in their life.

Just get used to it. Just use it as a time to educate people. I keep about 25 viper matchbox cars in my trunk that I hand out to younger kids that ask questions about it.

I raced a one of the new 5th gen camaros when they first came out in 04 F-150 and beat him by nearly a second in a test in tune. The guy came over and threatened to whoop my ass because I cheated.

Car talk frustrates me quite a bit, but if you really wanna piss me off, start telling bullshit poker/gambling stories.

I have a friend that is genuinely a good player but brags about having his own host that hooks him up when he goes to Vegas. He gets a comped suite at the Hard Rock and VIP access to their clubs. It's cool and I'm sure they are nice but I used to get the same treatment but from MGM resorts. They even offered me a $10k marker at NYNY when I used to have disposable income. I know it's not choo choo baller money but it's enough for a very healthy weekend.

As for cars though I've learned just to nod my head and listen. Your average car enthusiast thinks you are the one full of crap when you talk about 2200hp street cars.

I've run into lots of people that are full of shit as a Christmas goose and about as stupid, but that doesn't stop them from running their mouths.

One day I was walking into an Autozone and there was a guy in the parking lot with a Pontiac 301 engine sitting in the back of a pickup truck he had just gotten from somewhere. There was an Autozone guy out there there chatting with him telling him that he needed to do "this" and "that" to it when I knew that "this" and "that" wouldn't really help that 301. I had stopped to listen, realized that I was listening to a bullshitter, and I offered a little bit of my own advice. That got the self appointed Autozone expert all riled up so I shrugged my shoulders and just continued walking on into the store.

Some of the worst conversations I have ever had were with people about Firebird and Trans Am engines. The 400 and 403 is one of the biggest arguments, then the Turbo engine size, and last but least about their 1980 TA having a factory 455. I have built three and the amount of idiots never seams to amaze me. One day, when I am bored and just have money to burn, I really want a Turbo TA with a LS Turbo swap. Every time I pop the hood I am going to swear it is a factory car.
