We like beer. "Thanks for your service" is easy. Handing me a Bud Lite is more along the lines of a thanks. Or food. I'm a fat bastard for a reason.

As far as the COD, I'm not playing. I've talked to some very stupid people and dropped them off at the recruiter's office. One guy asked where he could get the most comfortable hiking boots cheap. I told him the pair I had on has been worn daily for a decade and they are still holding up and comfortable and I got them free. He said "Oh? I guess I missed that deal."

"Nope, they have the same deal, every day. They measure your foot and fit it personally to you and all. Hell, if you're hard core enough, they'll pay you to wear it."

"No shit? What do I Have to do?"

"Just sign the contract man. They pay for you a gym membership, give you an expense account to cover your housing and even buy you all of your meals and you can choose how long you want the contract for. Absolutely serious man."

    "Fuck yeah! Let's do this!"

    Yep. Hello Army recruiter.
    I wear a Fez. Fez-es are cool

That shit is always hard to do. Every time I go out to see Mike it hits me like I just buried him yesterday. For some reason I always feel like a piece of shit for being above the ground instead of him.

Survivor's guilt makes no sense but it's a bitch. I understand 100%. Especially since I found out one of the guys that we lost in 04 held me in his lap one of the times I was unconscious to make sure I wasn't shaken too badly while we were fighting. 3 hours with his dad and I learned a lot of things about that day I didn't know because I blacked out a few times.

Frost the recruiting machine. Is it ok to give some small jabs and yell welcome back bro when I meet a vet? Did that to 2 diff guys at the shop and they were cool with it. And yes I did this knowing I could get a reflexive snap my neck maneuver performed lol

I saw a jeep tj with your brother's memorial sticker on it. Thought it was you until he rolled the window down and asked "can I help you? " oops not Patrick.

A tj? Sure it wasn't a Toyota FJ cruiser?

Lmao, I got a text about that. He said it was some guy named Darren. That was Phillip, he was the tall Ft. Worth cop that was a pall bearer and also led the procession.

It varies vet to vet. I'm cool with a lot because I've been back a decade and have had time to heal a bit.

He was a pimp while we served together as well. I tried to get into doing contractor work when I got out but no one wanted a guy who was watching walls bleed to head out again. Still, would be neat to go back to doing what I enjoyed with better pay and conditions.
