lol yeah, unfortunately you don't know what it is until you've had it happen. Once you've experienced it, it's pretty easy to diagnose behind the wheel.

Sell it and wait for a deal on a powerstroke or cummins. I've picked up a '99 4x4 extended cab powerjoke for $2300 and the butthurt-express '06 QCSB Lone Star Cummins for $3500.
7.3l is a dog, but intake/tune/exhaust quickly fixes that. 180k on our Excursion and the only problem it has ever given us is the fuel bowl valve from the BS ultra low sulfur highway diesel.Originally posted by BuzzoSome dudes jump out of airplanes, I fuck hookers without condoms.

Next up is the cost and quality of the truck. I still don't buy that you got that 06 for $3500, but even if you did, those deals are one in a million. Not in the mood to pay $4000 for a 300+K mile truck thats been ragged out. I love the "Just got the engine broke in" line, because there is other shit on a truck that wears out by 300K.
The consensus view on the 6.5L is make sure the PMD is relocated, make sure that the engine doesn't get over 210*F, smoke is bad, changes the glow plugs, make sure that the OPS has been updated, and you're good to go. All of that was done on this truck.

That's good. As long as the 7.3l has relatively low miles and/or has been well taken care of there shouldn't be anything to worry about on them. 6.0l transmission cooler swap is a life saver too for $30.
I drove down to Dallas at 4 AM to buy that truck before work at 7. Since I had nobody to come with me and I didn't have my car hauler then, I had to go back at 4 in the afternoon with a buddy and load it up. We started it up with half of the turbo removed too lol. Though getting it here was a pain, it was well worth it for me.
I've never really looked into the 6.5l, but everyone that I have known with one has ended up selling it due to issues. I guess they're like another 6.0l. THey have a bad rap, but if they're modified correctly they'll work great.Originally posted by BuzzoSome dudes jump out of airplanes, I fuck hookers without condoms.
