You don't want a plan that makes you rich when bad things happen. You want a plan that makes you whole.

I use Nationwide for everything homeonwers, auto and rv. We had ot have the roof replaced a few yrs ago and it was painless. They did not give us a fight at all and we upgraded to Class 4 hail resistant and our rates dropped about 25% the next yr.

Might be stupid question but why you need insurance if youre a renter? Wouldnt that be the owner of the property? Their responsibility.

The property owner insures the building and has general liability for the outside grounds. Renter insurance covers your belongings and provides liability insurance for your area.

Just hypothetically say you leave a pot on the stove and it catches fire, completely your fault. The unit catches on fire and burns the one above and next to you. Your renter insurance provides coverage for damage done to others through your neglect. The property owner would be covered for structural damage but you'd be liable for any lost revenue plus damage to the neighbors personal items. Or say your dog attacks someone or you have an accidental discharge of a firearm, again renter insurance would come into play.

For $200 a year I have $300k in liability insurance plus stated coverage of $20k worth of personal items. To me it's worth it.
