45% percent of contractors are crooks. 55% are honest but incompetent. The rest are great.

lol kept bugging him ( 12 texts today) about an exact date. He told me tuesday at the latest.

Quick question for the pool owners here, do you use the 3" pucks or do you use liquid chlorine+all the other chemicals?

It's crazy how contractors work now a days,

I've been doing a few jobs lately and a a few have been from people who started didn't finish or required customer to do something and then never came back.

Pucks will eventually cause problems. CYA goes up with every puck used- the only way to lower CYA is to replace the water. When the CYA is too high your chlorine is no longer effective.

A Salt system or liquid chlorine are the way to go. I have a chemical pump that automatically adds liquid chlorine several times a day.

I found my current handyman on CL. He came out, did some little task for me and I tipped the hell out of him. That was 2 years ago and now I just hand him the house keys and a rough outline of what I want and let him impress me. He's not failed to yet and his work is incredible. He pulled up my hardwood flooring and laid down new tile for a total of $400. He built my countertops by hand for $600 for 40 hours of labor.

Does he work in Greenville? I may be in need of a local handy man for some renovation work soon.

I know of 1 great one. He is not the cheapest or most expensive, but no one has been unhappy with him. Hell, I trust him enough that I let him alone at the house to work while we're out doing stuff.

The only exception is he subs out some work, but he makes sure it is done right. Oddly enough a hot water heater replacement was 500 dollars cheaper through him with the same plumber.
