as a DFWM baller, every city I visit, I spent at least $20-30k, so if I decide not to spend money there, they're losing revenue...
it's easy to spend $1000/yr in a city... if you buy fuel at a convenient gas station, pic up food on the way home, etc. it adds up.
spending $1k/yr in a city that has an 8.25% sales tax rate is $82.50/yr
thankfully, red light cameras aren't much concern around Houston anymore, but whenever I go back to DFW, I specifically avoid certain areas and refuse to spend money in certain cities. If enough people voted with their dollars, their votes might count a little more
