  • 2013-14 Explorer Sport

Looking at buying a Explorer Sport this Fall. Anyone have one, if so have you had any problems with it and what kind of mileage are you seeing out of it?

My grandma had a 13 with the 4 cylinder ecoboost not sure on size but she said she would get around 17-18 ish in town and 22-23 hwy. She loved it said it rode great, had plenty of power and room inside. Cant really say anything bad about them.

That mpg is terrible. No wonder why they got rid of the 4 cylinder option

The sport has the twin turbo V6 and all wheel drive. My parents bought a 2014 limited it has the 3.7 v6 and is two wheel drive. My mom see's 24-25 Hwy 18 in town. Was curious how much lower the turbo all wheel drive MPG would be.

lol I was just about to say. I think she might have had an Edge, that gas mileage matches up better.

True. I haven't reset my avg MPG on my Escape and it's at 24.7 with the 2.0 Ecoboost

I believe they made a 2.0T explorer, but it wasn't the sport.

And those fuel mileage figures look worse than my v6.

                  2wd or awd?
                  Does it feel "peppy"?
They've had my eye lately as an acceptable daily.

Maybe it was a v6 hell I never rode in it just saw it once at thanksgiving. She only had it for 8 months before totaling it. She had an 08 edge awd v6 blah blah that she traded for the explorer and said she liked the explorer better.

Me and the wife went and looked at a 13 escape with the 2.0 turbo ecoboost last night and it was pretty nice just lacked room inside. Im pretty sure the previous body style had more room.

*I just talked with her and it was a limited edition with the platinum white paint not the sport, was a 2wd with the 4 cylinder ecoboost. Mileage was 17-18 in town and 23-24 hwy

Ya, it's very peppy. It beat my son's 2005 Dodge truck (4.7L) and Fox Body LX hatch (AOD with unknown mods, probably just exhaust).

They're rated at 242hp with the auto. The Focus ST has the same engine, but goes through an M6 and they boast a 252hp rating. I've owned both and the ST is quicker, but not by much. It only ran high 14s in the quarter, but the MPH was like 97 and 98. I'm sure the Escape can leave better, but it'll give up a little down the way with the auto and weight.

Cobb over in Plano is already turning many Focus and Fiesta STs through their shop.
