Yep....5 of my 6 holdings are going straight down. Win some lose some. I am in all these for the long run. My mutual funds are taking a major hit as well.

PLUG is headed up again! Without the games on the forum I would still be throwing rocks at our mutual fund guy. Instead I am making the choices and so far have done better in 8 months than the mutual funds have done in 2 years!

The crazy part is there is about 3 times the money in mutual funds. I am thinking about just removing the mutual fund money and moving it to the Scottrade account. I just wanted to see if I could do any better on my own.

Congrats on getting involved and up to speed with your investments. You have a few names, which is far better than 1 or 2, but keep in mind that it isn't a lot of names and they're mid- to micro- cap for the most part. Point being, while your returns are better (congrats again), you're doing it by taking on much more risk. I'm glad the game initiated your interest - that's what I like to see. The point isn't to let you hang yourself though - I highly suggest you keep those mutual fund investments at least for the mean time. There's plenty of work to be done when selecting fund managers - I did it for a profession for a while. That might be a better place for you focus your time ... make sure the mutual funds you have are working for you.
