Lmao. I know just what you mean Denny.

Many moons ago (pre-enlightenment) I had to pay some overdue tolls in order to get a toll tag. I called and was told it would be $400-ish to wipe the slate clean and open an account. I hung up, immediately called back and was told it would be $44 this time. Lol what a fucking scam. Thankfully I haven't paid a toll in four years.

On a regular basis, groups could go out and "break down" on all of the entrance ramps for a few hours at a time. They would lose a lot of fees.

Thanks for all of the posts. I'll make sure and avoid toll roads like the plague.

I ended up paying them like a little bitch.

I called them and talked to a couple different people, and basically they just more or less said "we really suck and sometimes it takes two years to process stuff." I actually had some invoices from back then and went through them and the charges were legit. Nothing I could really do about the collection tolls, they were legit tolls, I just never received notices for them.

They are still shady as anything, they remind me a lot of the VA, I think they just see what they can get away with and who will pay up. And it appears there is not a whole lot the average joe can do about them, they aren't required to really prove they sent you anything and your fees exponentially increase if you dont pay them immediately. I cant think of a lender besides the shady ones that hung outside the base giving loans to young privates at 30-40% interest that can turn 100 bucks in tolls into 2k for some collection company.

I wish I could say I stopped taking the tolls to help stick it to the man but unfortunately I do still use them, although I make a conscious effort to avoid them when I can. I've probably stopped my use of toll roads by half at this point.

Like Al said, there needs to be a huge class action lawsuit against these shitbirds. This is nothing more than common extortion.

I agree, and there are people out there who have the fodder to win a lawsuit, however that would depend on that person speaking up, lawyering up, and going through the whole process on his or her dime. Thats tough these days. The best way would be to start some sort of group/organization who would represent said individual(s)

I think this needs to be Sean88gt's first Pro Bono case.

I could be wrong, but I'm pretty Democrats are also in favor of NTTA.

They are. Hence, your politicians aren't going to give two fucks.

Yeah, that was kind of my point. They're all selling us down the river.
