  • USPS Can burn in hell

These mother fuckers quit delivering on our street because we live on a "dirt road." They have only been delivering on the road since the early 80's.

To top it off, as of last week, all but a 1/3 mile of the 4 mile road is paved. Majority of the neighbors and I spent Several thousands of dollars doing it.

old dirt road to the right.

A friend of mine just moved to Shadow Creek Ranch in Pearland. They have those stupid community mailboxes, so he goes down to the post office to get it all set up. Lady tells him it's a $15 fee to re-key. He says no problem and pays it. Then she tells him it's going to be about 3 months before it is re-keyed, but no worries, he can pick up his mail at the post office any time, and as often as he wants.

THREE FUCKING MONTHS to re-key a mailbox. I want THAT guy's job. 3 month backlog, and nobody even cares. lmao.

Neither snow nor rain nor heat nor gloom of night stays these couriers from the swift completion of their appointed rounds, except gravel roads.

The only thing I get in the mail worth getting is the Chesapeake checks for the gas rights. Everything else is pretty much junk mail. Why do we spend the tax dollars supporting that sinking ship?

Only reason it pisses me off is some people still insist on sending packages USPS. Then we have people like our trash collection that refuse to do anything electronic.

I would be ecstatic if they did away with my mailbox, nothing comes to it that I need.

When I went up to get my mail, I was talking to people that have been waiting for over a year for the postal service to put in a community mail box in their new neighborhood.

At least twice a week I get my neighbors mail and/or the mail for a house on the next street over that has the same house number. The lady that delivered mail to that neighborhood for years retired. Now there a.different person almost every other day.

They quit delivering ours because it wasn't mounted properly on the pole. I mean, it leaned, but still closed, worked right, etc.

Now I'm in the claim process and this is a complete nightmare. Filed in late January, they lost the claim, now I have to resubmit everything in writing on paper.

If you are in the sticks, they probably have part time janitors doing the re-keying. If not, it is the maintenance department. They just reduced staff by about 75% in maintenance and there was already a 4 to 7 year backlog of work. I personally see moves being made to farm all the regular maintenance work out to contractors. The problem is they can't just get rid of the department at once, they are just reducing force and people are quitting/retiring. When that happens they don't re-hire. Union is losing little by little which is a good thing, just going to be painful in the mean time.

oh, and BTW....NOT ONE PENNY comes from Tax dollars. USPS is supported by postage sales only.

As for not delivering on gravel roads....only explanation is that it's a safety regulation imposed by the union. So, thank unions.

In all honesty, the USPS is working very hard to cut costs in a manner that is actually considered responsible in the private world. The problem is the union promotes a protected worker mentality where the important ethics changes can't be made easily. Short of committing a felony, you can't get rid of someone in a government job and if you tell them they are too slow, they will file a grievance against you. entitlement at it's best. You should try working with/for the government some time....it's either good or terrible.

Pearland is hardly considered the sticks. 15 miles from downtown Houston. Third largest suburb in Houston, and second fastest growing city in the State. Population of 91,252 in 2010.
