We have several employees with 25 years but they are all through acquisitions. Me personally I started at one company in 2004, which sold in 2007 to a bigger company and then sold to an ever bigger company (my current employer) in 2009.
I'm currently working out of my 15th different office (10th building) in that time and will be moving to a new building next month, then I'll be going back to DFW in August to work out of yet another office in another new building in Burleson. It's my 4th different position with the company though.

40-years is damned impressive!
I'm just a few months away from hitting 16 years with Microsoft, and I'll admit there have certainly been up's & down's but those have about all been associated to "individuals", not the company itself. Overall it's still a damned fine company to work for....I don't take a second for granted just what all they do for us. I wouldn't have nearly the skills or comfort for my family had it not been for this company and how they've helped me grow.
...and things have really started looking up even more over the past year or so too.70' Chevelle RagTop

Why would you not follow the money?

It isn't greed. Companies are in business to make money. If you aren't making money, layoffs happen. That isn't greed. It's how business works.

I still got some pull here where I work. My Chips are stacked high and I'm using them right now with both my parents health issues. I can freely work as needed...
If I didn't have the 9 year tenure here and just been working 1 year at another company, I'm not sure I could pull of the shit I'm pulling off right now."No free man shall ever be debarred the use of arms. The strongest reason for the people to retain the right to keep and bear arms is, as a last resort, to protect themselves against tyranny in government"

Last year a co-worker (and good friend) was killed, leaving behind a wife and 2 little boys....it was remarkable everything they did to ensure his family was taken care of...and not just what all of his colleagues did, what the company itself did.
To me that means a lot more than a fatter paycheck.70' Chevelle RagTop

Wow, that is an accomplishment. I've been through 7 places if employ in the past decade. I celebrated one year on the current just yesterday and the president called to thank me for my hard work. I get to partake in the 5% 401k match and the monthly profit sharing. Pretty big deal for me as I've had some pretty crummy places while trying to feed and house the family. I took less than I wanted to come Here but I thought long term as I'm tired of chasing the $$$. I hope I can do 20 and retire here. Though I'm not married to any job.
Congratulations on the 4 decades, I know I don't have the patience for all that.Rich

That's an awesome accomplishment. lol @ the "you should be loyal posts." Why? Companies aren't loyal to their people.

With all that said, if your current employer isn't so loyal to you then YOU have to look out for yourself.Originally posted by racrguyWhat's your beef with NPR, because their listeners are typically more informed than others?Originally posted by racrguyVoting is a constitutional right, overthrowing the government isn't.
