  • Father shoots boy in daughters room...

A 17-year-old boy was killed after a man found the teen inside his daughter's bedroom Thursday morning, investigators from Harris County Precinct Four said. Deputies said the homeowner's 16-year-old daughter let the boy into the home on Bridgestone Ridge and Bridgestone Path. Around 2:30 a.m., authorities got a 911 call from a girl who said her father shot a man underneath her sister's bed, and that the man who was shot took a bullet to the head. According to homicide detectives, the father found the teen and there was a scuffle. Officials told Local 2 the father had a gun and shot the 17-year-old once. The teen died at the scene. The father was transported to the hospital to be checked out. It is unclear whether he will face charges. Deputies said there were four children home at the time of the shooting. The homeowner's wife was at work.

Bad situation no matter how you look at it.

Heard on the news, the Dad said he confronted the boy and his daughter claimed he didn't know him. The kid then apparently reached for something in the dark, the Dad was fearful and wanting to protect the other 4 kids in the house, shot him.

After the fact, the daughter claimed, of course, she knew him. This is going to be messy, but being in TX, the guy will likely get no billed by a grand jury as he technically had an intruder in his house. All that said, a very sad and messy situation.

If person became aggressive towards the father then I can see him being cleared of any wrongdoing. Isn't the age of consent on the young side in Texas?

It's about to get expensive for that guy... I'm sure a civil suit will come. All she had to do was tell the truth. I hope they no bill the dad.

If I were in that situation and the boy does anything but run from his life when I give him a "get the hell out of here" - I'm not sure what'll happen after that. I do stay up late at night worrying about shit like this - she is only 4 now but those ages come around too quick.

Anyway, I can't really blame the father and I believe that doing something like this is deserving of being shot. I will explain this to my boy just the same way too.

Even if he's an intruder, don't you have to prove you were in fear of your life? Goo luck proving that when he was hiding under your whore of a daughter's bed.

Uh, what? Being young, stupid, and sneaking in for a piece of ass is deserving of murder? Are you shitting me?

If you shoot someone in your house who doesn't belong there, you'll most likely be fine.

Well, yes and no. How can you prove you feared for your life? Other than saying "I feared for my life". Incidentally, that phrase is one taught by many CHL instructors as the first and only thing you should say to police (if anything at all).

Keep in mind, in Texas you can use deadly force for crimes as minor as malicious mischief, if occurring at night.

You do have to claim that you feared for your life, and I assume give some sort of reasonable explanation.

Is it really even possible to "prove" an emotion though, the way other things have to be proven in court?

My wife is having a baby in April, don't know if it is a boy or a girl, so immediately I start thinking how I would feel on both sides. Nothing good here. This is a situation I hope I never see.

What part of "I have a .45 and a shovel" did the guy not understand?

Seriously though, that's a tough situation...
