Seems like the main thing is to ensure your actions, 911 call, etc, do not give the impression otherwise. IE, you say you were in fear for your or your family's life but your actions seem to indicate otherwise.

I know I have seen at least two big shooting stories where the shooter delivered "kill shots" after already incapacitating the intruder / violator, and the immediate danger seemed to be over.

I've heard a few stories of those shooting through the front door of the house and not receiving charges. Joe Horn in Houston killed two unarmed intruders who broke into his neighbor's house and possibly shooting them in the back as they fled. Slippery slope.

I see what he is saying, but for reasons slightly different than he enumerated.

The way I see it is that the father's response of shooting an intruder is reasonable. Not because he is potentially banging the daughter, but that in the moment, the father only knows that he is facing a stranger in his house, at an unreasonable hour. If in that situation, I do not think I would take a chance on delaying action to determine his intent. Hesitation could easily result in death or serious injury to him and his family.

The boy should not have taken the risk of sneaking in. That said, in this specific incident, I wouldn't necessarily "blame" the boy, but feel the father should still be no-billed since he was only defending himself and family.

Having been "the boy under the bed" a couple of times myself, in my youth, I do feel bad for the boy.
