I'm with you. I'm about to the point where I'm going to become a huge asshole. Sick and tired of fucking idiots, spouting idiotic rhetoric, not reading shit they reply to, and making absolutely no sense when they do. And I am not only talking about on this board, but in life in general.

Actually Regan commissioned the Rand Corp to study the drug problem in the early 80's and funded the research to the tune of nearly 100 million dollars. Their finding were issued in a report that was called "The Phoenix plan" or something like that. You used to be able to find the report at the Dallas Public Library in the reference section.

Their research showed several startling facts.

      1. No amount of law enforcement activity had a statistically significant effect on the availability of drugs; only the price.

      2. The laws against the drugs caused more harm to the users, their families, and the general public then the drugs themselves.

      3. That the true fight was not was going after the drug distribution networks but was going after the physical cash as it was being taken out of the country because that could not be replaced while every single other thing could be.

I could keep going but I do not like repeating a topic that I have beaten to death already. Go find the report and read it yourself.

I must also point out that this was and has been the only clean sheet of paper study ever done before or since. It's finding were immediately rejected because it did not tell the story that the powers that be wanted to hear. Regan launched the war on the 4th amendment (AKA The War on Some Drugs) shortly after the reports findings were made public. It's effects have permanently changed the public's view of law enforcement for the worse in this country and the public's relationship with the government.
Magnus, I am your father. You need to ask your mother about a man named Calvin Klein.

They hate themselves, but can't overcome the addiction. I've dealt with these people first hand. Some started as decent people, then the drugs took over... Many don't live much past 35-40. Most will OD and cost us major money with unpaid ER bills...
Okay, so how does any of that get any WORSE if you legalize drugs?

And how does being illegal make it any BETTER?

Dirt bags will be dirt bags, no matter what. Wholesome folks who don't do drugs are gonna still be wholesome folks who don't do drugs. And most addicts are gonna be addicts.

If anything, and I've said this many times before, you take a fraction of the money currently being spent on the war on drugs, and you put that into more/better education and treatment programs. Not new money, but just a small bit of the money being wasted now. If it helps 5% of the addicts get their shit straight, then that's a win.

So there's your plan. Legalize it ALL, redirect part of the funds, and see what happens. Could it possibly be worse than this bullshit we have now? No fucking way.

Dude. Jay and Silent Bob is a goddamned excellent movie, especially if you've ever smoked weed at any point in your life.

Meanwhile, Clerks is a steamy dog turd. From a dog with worms. So it's a steamy, bloody dog turd with little worms crawling around in it.

There's no need to reaffirm your lack of taste in movies, we're all well aware.

Not to mention if we produced our own stuff - we'd essentially eliminate the upside to the cartels invading our borders, growing in our states and doing their dirty business here in general.

I believe the war on drugs is a joke, since we're fighting people who have nothing to lose and their puppet masters are making billions in the industry.

The current war on drugs is not really affecting anything but our tax rates. Lives are lost over it and the prisons are a joke. Prisoners come out better dealers/criminals than when they went in with many more contacts.

It's hard to believe some one can be right one second and then so wrong within the same post. Jay and Silent Bob is a good stoner movie with a ton of dick and fart jokes. It's not an epic movie but it gets laughs. Clerks is greatness.
