$252 does seem like a lot for rolling through a stop sign.

Question - don't mean to hijack your thread. If you get a ticket on a road that has no speed limit sign and you pay it, can you do anything about that or is it to late?

If you've paid I'd imagine it's too late. Either way if it's not posted there's a set of limits (depending on type of road and proximity to city) that you have to follow.

I believe what was "posted" was 30 and got caught doing 35. After a few more trips down this road I noticed there was no limit posted.

Yeah, after several frustrating phone calls, an irritating day in court, and close to $2000 in fees.


Technically, I still have one step left. Gotta send all my shit off to Austin, along with yet ANOTHER fee. I accidentally left it on my desk when I left town Sunday, so I just dropped it in the mail. But yeah, I've got a judge's order, and all that. She said I was good to drive that day.

Damn, $2000 in fees plus probably having to pay the lawyer. What did they say when you told them you never received anything in the mail?

Called the lawyer. The only reason i would need a lawyer is if the courts refused differed ajudication (sp). So now I guess I have to pay the fine...252 fuckin bucks and a differ cost. 300 plus bucks for a snail crawl. Never wanted to whoop a cop in all my life, but this sob got me all fired up.

I could swarn my drivers ed teacher said it was 30. That was ten years ago so I could be wrong...

The problem is, each city has their own "law" on what the speed limit is in non posted areas. One may be 25, the next 20, and another is 30.

That sucks. I know that Saginaw has a 20mph speed limit in their neighborhoods. What sucks is not knowing where Saginaw ends and Fort Worth begins, bc FtW's are 30mph. If I don't know what it is, I'll go 25'ish until I see a sign that says otherwise. It's not like I cruise around in neighborhoods all the time anymore like Tony, so it doesn't really bother me.

Didn't pay an attorney, represented myself. That pissed the court off though. They wouldn't even talk to me on the phone, they kept saying I needed an attorney. I got fed the fuck up, and went down there cash in hand. I will be joining the class action lawsuit if/when it materializes. Lots of talk, but nothing set in stone yet.


I told them I didn't receive anything in the mail. The guy said "I've been hearing more and more of that lately." So, I said "Well, what the fuck does that tell you?" He responded with "Well, sorry. There's nothing I can do."

I don't have to worry about that out here in Sachse. I have every police vehicle they own on video rolling the stop sign by my house.

I don't see that as being a valid defense should you ever get caught. "Two wrongs don't make a right."
