Took the kids to Space Center Houston a few years ago and watched the History of Space IMAX. The footage of the control center's reaction to the Challenger explosion brought a new level of reality to it.

i was at work and the boss gave us the rest of the day off. My wife and i went straight to Highland Appliance and bought our first VCR together and went home and taped the coverage.

that tape is sitting right next to my Super Bowl XII video tape that i taped from 1978.

I was in 2nd grade in Flower Mound, I remember they wheeled a TV in for us to watch the launch. We all watched what happened and the teachers and most of the kids were crying and we gotz to go home early..

3rd grade as well. Mrs Tucker came in crying and told us what had happened. Was really strange when the Columbia went down almost on the anniversary date.
