Yeah, nothing is impossible. I quit trying to read up - there is too much speculation and false reports (i.e. I read they did found debris, then the did not...rinse/repeat).

Either way, if I was family of people on the flight I would probably have lost most of my hope by this point. One thing a few articles did indicate is that today on supposedly the search is really going to be stepped up.

A 777 breaking up at 35k ft would produce a massive amount of debris.. seat cushions, foam products, and interior panels would be more likely to float for quite a while..

At 600mph and 35k feet lots of things can happen. The jet is designed to go 640mph but could pretty easily top 700+ in a dive and maybe even hit the sound barrier, which of course would do some serious structural damage to a 777.
