I had a craftsman 20 inch push mower for 23 years and it was still going when I moved out of the house; I left it for the new home owners. All the "winterizing" i ever did was to I did fill up the gas tank in the fall after the last mow. In the spring it would usually just need an extra yank or two on the rope to fire right back up.

Bringing this back. Its time for a new weedeater. Looks like the option in my price range are Troy-bilt, Husqvarna, or maybe echo.

I am thinking Husqvarna is pretty good stuff but not sure if Echo is better or not. Also, with the uptick in price for one of those the engine size goes down for my price range. Would i really see that much of a difference if I went from a 25cc engine to a 21 cc? I am also going to use my edger attachment I currently have.

I have the smaller engine on my Echo, and along one fence line it can struggle. this is a where the lots drain between my neighbor and me, and if we get rain it grows up really thick here very quickly. That said I never had any issues getting through thick/wet grass with good trimmer line.

I bought my Echo in the spring of 2010 and have never had a single issue. I do need to replace the trimmer head, its starting to have trouble feeding line consistently.

I have an Echo and it's great for the 500' of fence/trimming I do.

i bought my dad the FS90 commercial grade line trimmer and he absolutely loves the damn thing. It was expensive but i know it will probably be the last line trimmer he buys for a LONG time.

As for the fuel, i have a friend that is a firefighter and they use the Stihl Motomix premixed ethanol free fuel for all of there Stihl equipment. Dont have to worry about the fuel going bad if not in use. So that is what my old man uses.

I've got a Toro workhorse riding mower that's still going strong after 12 years. Zero complaints. My weed eater is 25 year old Kawasaki that is the best $400 I've ever spent.

The toro required some upkeep this year but I've never touched the weed eater.

I have a craftsman weedeater and love it. Extremely easy to start and has plenty of power for edging and basic work

I would add that it doesn't need to be a Honda brand mower, but make sure it has a Honda engine...
I purchased a Husqvarna mower with Honda engine and it's been excellent. Starts on first pull every time!

Stihl or Echo. I wouldn't even look at anything else.

Don't know how long you have had it, but typically those machines only have a lifespan of 50hrs or so....
