Change your oil, change your filters, grease your fittings, and run ethanol free gas. Neglect is what kills small equipment. Most of the crap will work well, as long as you care for it. Some brands can just take a harder beating.

Where can you find ethanol free gas?

I wondered if the ethanol would negatively effect the engine. Something I plan on asking the dealer when I buy...

Lowes and HomeDepot sell it in cans. It is stupid expensive. I use it on my chainsaw and leaf blower but I've never run it in that Stihl line trimmer and I've never had any problem. I use regular unleaded in my lawn mower.

I had an Echo straight shaft trimmer for a while, ended up crapping out on me and I called it quits on gas trimmers forever. I replaced it with a nice Toro lithium-ion trimmer and I have been loving it ever since. Every time I grab that thing I'm happy I bought it. Works great, never have to fuck with a choke, gas, pulling the cord, etc. If I want to trim something, I trim it, no bullshit. Highly recommended if you have the scrilla. One of the best tools I've ever bought.

How long does the battery last on the Toro trimmer? I will have A LOT of fence line not to mention around the house.

I've never ran it out before, I'm not sure. I've never even had reduced power. I can trim for about 20 minutes and still be at 75% battery.

this is the one I bought. Looks like they discontinued it so there must be a newer model. 220 reviews @ 5 stars, that's the best I've ever seen.

Damn! You weren't kidding about having scrilla to buy that. Think I'll just get the Stihl gas trimmer I had in mind.

Nah, I think I paid $150 or so for mine. That price is some outrageous amount. There is also a 40v black and decker that has great reviews. I couldn't bring myself to buy a Black & Decker though, even if it has 5 stars.

There are online maps of ethanol free stations. It's cheaper than regular fuel too.
Sharpen your blades often. That'll save you a ton of time and unnecessary wear.

Didn't find any in DFW either.
Closest I saw was Whitesboro and Gainesville.

Well that blows. Yea, we have at least 2 here in Gainesville. All of our carbureted stuff runs 10x better with it, and it never gums up or goes bad after sitting for a long time. Load up a bunch and store it off to the side
