  • I finally decided on a daily. Thanks to Phil (vadertt) and rreemo, I bought a bimmer. A clean low miles one to boot.. 2001 330xi with 62k miles. She's awd and 5spd manual. She is silky smooth and fun. I am thoroughly impressed. The wheels are super gay IMO. I like factory. So I'm looking for factory 17-19 inch wheels to replace.. These are just to gangsta for me.

Yup! Start scouring eBay, or just pop the old stuff off and flat black it for the same effect.

            • Yeah, the car is pretty sweet, low miles too. It has some suspension issues that need to be addressed, then wheels, springs and fix the saggy headliner.

                    • Nice! I bought an E46 M3 over a year ago and still love it. These cars require some maintenance, but they're great to daily drive. Good Luck!

So far, it hasnt been bad. I have done all of it and seems reasonable. The fuel filter was $60 but its as big as two beer cans stacked together. I've also fixed the windshield wiper sprayer, oil, checked fuel pressure using a gauge (make sure pump was good), etc. Nothing has stumpted me get. Next is front ball joints and rear subframe bushings. She runs great tho. Thoroughly enjoy driving her.

P.S. anyone with 17+inch BMW wheels plz send me a pm. I want stock. Not these DIP Slack 18" wheels... Thanks

Yep...I don't find it any more difficult to work on than a Mustang and the online support (DIYs, how-tos, etc) is incredible. I'd recommend getting an older laptop (I've got a 10+ y/o Gateway that I got for free) and load up TIS, INPA, WDS, etc so you have all the software tools to troubleshoot and code options. You'll need a $20 USB-to-OBDII cable and you'll be all set.

For parts, realoem.com has all the factory parts diagrams (to get PNs) and thebmwpartstore.com typically has the best pricing. Tischer (getbmwparts.com) and ECS Tuning are also good sources - ECS's site is awesome and has great pictures of almost everything.

                          Good Luck and enjoy!

                            • Wrong answer. The correct answer is always the M Sport dual parallel wheels.

M Parallels are awesome, but they have E39 offsets and hub size (74.1mm). Not necessarily a deal breaker, but he'd need hub adapter rings for sure and maybe spacers...
