My exwife got sued on a photography job that went bad. We counter sued for blatant breach of contract and after I was finished with them they asked what law firm I worked for or if I had my own practice. It was quite amusing. You need to make it more risky for them to proceed. They will likely ask for a dismissal after you go for their throat and they see that they are not only going to miss out on a settlement, but that they'll likely owe YOU money by the time it is all said and done.

I had a civil matter go to a JP and that motherfucker didn't follow state law - jurisdiction was in MY county and he denied a venue change to accommodate me, then when I presented case law, he gave me the "opportunity to settle up before things got ugly." So my faith in JP's is non-existent.

you will spend probably north of 10k for a decent lawyer to represent you. It cost me around 1600 for a couple of letters to be sent to a former employer.Vortex rear stand $75

I don't even know how to go about filing a counter suit. I'm open for suggestions. Hearing is in June.
Originally posted by Sean88gt View PostCity is largely irrelevant. You can seek a change of venue - personally, I'd get it away from a JP (I'm surprised it is listed as a jury trial, thought most JP's did bench trials, but I'm a novice), that may require a counter-suit with a value that exceeds the JP threshold, again, you'd have to research and see what those limits are.

Notice of hearing says case has been set for trial and is at Justice of the Peace. Precinct 3 District 1.
So yeah no jury trial, it's just the Notice of Hearing. Sorry about that.
So no lawyer needed?
JP= Justice of Peace?

If My people, which are called by My name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.

Always have an attorney, if for no other reason than to handle the procedural hurdles. My assumption is that they won't have an attorney (especially if they are fretting over $1000), so this is a prime opportunity to 1) fuck them in the ass, and 2) counter-sue with a victory under your belt.
