    yea, its too old

It starts to get difficult to pull up vins on anything older than 1980

The VIN was not standardized to 17 digits until 1981, so anything older than that will not show up on any CarFax searches, etc.

What is the vehicle and what are you wanting to know about it ?

Were you trying to verify ownership of it using the TXDMV data base?

Slide the VIN to Crash, OP. His job is buying and selling old cars.

Try entering leading 0's to make it a full 17-digit vin?

You'll have better luck with the door tag, and most old cars have all that decoder stuff online for no fees.

The DMV only keeps records for 15 years. If it hasn't been registered in the last 15 years the DMV will not have records on it.
