Same here. I'm actively looking to go elsewhere, in hopes that it rekindles my love for this country. My fear is, it won't.

At this point would home schooling be the better option??

We had our kids in private school and ended up switching to homeschool. It's really nice not having to deal with the bullshit in McKinney/Frisco schools.

That also comes with a slew of issues. Parental bias, socialization, etc etc. I would assume it is the lesser of two evils at this point.

Our kids are involved athletically, get together with friends and the number of homeschool families has exploded. We have control over what they learn and can bring in subjects that most seniors don't touch.

Maybe we should let the Army come in and teach our kids reaction on contact and how to get out of a complex attack/ambush. Maybe teach them combatants and improvised weapons training. Every 1st grader should know how to roll up a magazine and jab someone in the dick with it to distract and disarm active shooters.

Things are just different once you leave highly populated areas. Its a whole other world really.

actually, getting off the grid and disappearing into the woods would be an idea. Found a house while hiking near Creede that had done just this. Completely self sustained and cut off from the outside world (per the inhabitant)

Schools just provide a foundation and true education should come from the parents. Stuff like these drills just means the parents have more work to do. Getting a piece of papper/diploma doesn't mean you know a damn thing except that you were willing to learn and got the basics down.

I did the duck and cover for a A bomb in the 50's in school but no one actually set off a bomb to simulate it.

I remember doing one of those in first grade in the early 80's. The older I get though sometimes I wonder if I had it confused with a tornado drill.

My plan honestly is to never move again. I've figured out that I'm not smart enough to ever be rich, but that if I don't have any bills (esp a home payment) it's basically the same thing, since I was at least lucky enough to be somewhat gifted with very modest life expectations. Some books, blurays, and my dog makes for a happy day most of the time. If I could figure out how to stick my head in the sand and not pay attention to the news it would be better. Oh well. 13 years and some change to go until the house is paid off.
