I'm bringing a car from out of state to TX. I was thinking of getting antique tags for it. My question is do I still have to get a green sheet inspection to get the title transfered?

I've done it 3 times and it has not been required. I always have my VTR-130U and VTR-54 (Antique Reg) forms and proof of insurance ready to go.
The Green Sheet is just a VIN verification. If they bring up "inspection" just remind them that antique registration does not require inspection. This may throw them off the idea.

well just a quick example...
with his 78 Fairmont, with a approximate guaranteed value of $10k, with driving the vehicle approximately 3k miles a year. Again, just a price guesstimate, price is approximately $202/year.
Higher liability limits, PIP, uninsured motorist bi/pd, comp & collision with $0 deductibles, spare parts coverage as well as towing/roadside service.
If we customize the quote & start cutting some of the coverages down, of course I can get it to $100/year or less. For a price that low annually, who would want to lower coverage that much anyways...

I failed inspection the first time because my dash indicators for turn signals and high beams don't work. So I had to get the "hook up" inspection and green sheet.
