  • Odd place for a brake fluid reservoir

I was digging around on my DJ5 and was looking for the brake fluid reservoir. Anyone ever see one buried under the battery, attached to the frame?

Yeah man. A ton of cars back in the day had them on the frame rails. 32 Fords are another example.

IT took me almost half an hour to hunt it down because I'd never seen anything like it. I have no idea how I'm going to get to it to check it and top it up. Solutions? To get to it, I can either climb into the engine compartment and wedge my hand under the battery and through the rest of it or I can go under it and around the frame.

Be glad you don't have a '51 Ford and have to cut a hole in the floorboard next to the brake pedal.

            Relocate the battery?

Ironic that you used an "oddly" placed photo to gripe about an oddly placed reservoir.

Really? They put them under the floorboard?

M/C on the 46 was under the floor. Had an access door to check it.

The pedals hinge at the bottom on those cars.

Did no one stop to think, during the design, "How is maintenance going to be done on this?"

Why top off the brake fluid? Have a leak? Old busted ass brake pads?

Best place for a resivoir, if you asked me. That means the pedal assembly is frame-mounted, and your firewall is not flexing.

I still can't figure yours out, and I'm good at this. I need more pictures.

The pic looks odd cause I assume the Heap is right hand drive.
