I want more info before saying FTP. If the fire truck was blocking more lanes than absolutely necessary, it should be moved. I'm all for protecting the victims and rescue crew, but traffic needs to move as well. The number of cars on the road in SoCal is mind blowing and the traffic is already horrible as is. In other words, if you can get everything done safely blocking one lane of traffic, why block more?

California is one seriously fucked up place. I just always assumed that police and fire worked hand in hand dealing with accidents, fires, etc. I guess commiefornia is the exception to the rule.
I see F.D. trucks around d/fw always park their in a manner to provide that protective barrier so that firefighters can do their jobs.
If people in general were not such idiots and slow down on highways, pay more attention, and not be in such a gd hurry all the time..... firefighters would probably not have to respond to as many calls for accidents and such.sigpic

Other then that, we were golden. Bam. Just got deep there.

Protecting the patients and the F.D. (and ambulance) trumps everything else.

Fort Worth F.D. for 16 1/2 years.
Lt. on "B" shift, Station 7 (John T White and Morrison). We are also one of the Swift Water Rescue/SCUBA Recovery teams.
I've worked here and Station 9 (I-35 and Meacham..sorta) and both can be Wreck Central.
It has gotten to where it is as dangerous -probably more, I don't have any hard stats right now- to work a highway MVA than to go into a fire. People just don't give a shit anymore, and we HAVE to protect the patients and ourselves.
I have had someone drive through the cones I had set out (back when I was a Driver) and run over the fire hose with a Fireman in the nozzle covering an Extrication.
If you do not CLAMP DOWN your protective zone people will run right through the scene, endangering all involved.
