Ya...so this morning the wife wakes me with "we're out of eggs and flour...", so off I scampered. Roads weren't bad then, but I got the last minute stuff she wanted. Radar shows the good stuff is almost here.

Mine's prepped, but I'm gonna wait until ice/snow starts falling. Or at the minimum, I'll have it blazing for the game.
I use mine pretty much any time it gets below mid 40's anyway. I really need to just buy a gas log set up and stop using wood. Luckily the last storm took a few major branches down so I'm just burning all that up and still have a ton left.
Bad thing about gas is it doesn't put out as much heat as wood.
Yeah, I've heard that too. I've got a pretty big fireplace, wonder if I can buy one that is just so big it will make up for it. Filling it up and making it look right is probably going to be pretty expensive, but I'll do it one day. Presto logs are too expensive to keep buying at the rate I have fires.
I would think if you have gas in the fireplace you have it in the furnace also. This is the first house I have had with a gas heater and there is no comparison. Not to mention my sub 100.00 electric bills. When our power went out we ran just the open flame in the fireplace with no logs. It worked great. If ever the option gas is the way to go.
