  • Unpaid red light camera ticket = no registration?

Can they legally hold your registration for a ticket that wasn't given to you buy an officer? Had a friend of mine who just tried to get their registration and was denied because of this. He was kinda pissed because he never received the ticket in the mail.

Driver licensing and vehicle registration is a privilege, not a right, so the authorities can do as they see fit with regard to granting or restricting that privilege.

Off topic but ever since I bought my new truck I have yet to receive a bill from the ntta. Is this normal, the wait? In my old truck when I first started using GBT I got them within a month.

They like to wait to send them just a few days before they are due so when you pay them it's already late.

              It's a racket

I've known people that have received stacks of invoices in a manila envelope for hundreds of dollars in tolls that are all due in 30 days after a vehicle purchase\change.

Red lights and NTTA.... gotta love it.

Yup, I drug one out for almost 2 years on my old 99 vert before I ended up having to pay it. Oh well, made those fuckers work for it.

You can try registering it an address in a different county because not all of them have agreed to restrict registration for that. Also, some of them ignore it.

You need to call NTTA. I just got a call from a collection company with the NTTA on Wednesday about tolls from my temporary tag when I bought my truck in Nov. 2012! Apparently, they never got paid on the temporary tag and racked up fees for the last 14 months.

Mail it in before it's due, no problems.

Actually it depends on the county. I know if you live in Dallas county, yeah you're screwed. Tarrant county on the other hand you can give the finger to red light fines all you want, they WILL renew your registration.
