My oldest brother was my idiot brother. Over the years he had done a good job of isolating himself from the rest of his family. Then, this past summer, he died suddenly of a heart attack. While his isolation was his doing, I wish I had been a little more compassionate towards him. I had not seen or spoken to him in 14 years when he died, other than exchanging a couple of messages on Facebook a couple of years ago.

Just keep things in perspective. And don't end up with regret like me. Even if they rebuff you, at least it's on them at that point.

Hell, I handed mine my travel trailer and buy him groceries every month. It's cheaper than him living with me again.

I understand what your saying but at this current time and for a long time, I have had no love or have felt no compassion for him. He has done some things that will never be forgotten or forgiven.
