I won't comment to any of the rest that is going on in here, but the statement above is horseshit. That's how business works. ESPECIALLY construction. I've been on the commercial side of things for 13 years. GC's would send out a bid tabulation, and you knew what your competitors bid at. Then they would take the 3 lowest bids, and tell them they need to pull x dollar amount or x% out of it, and low bid wins the contract. These days they don't send the tabulations anymore, they just call up every bidder and tell them they need to pull whatever amount out. It's the same thing with my channel partners. I work deals, and if someone beats my price, I take a second run at it. This is how shit works any time you have competition.
We are not about talking corporate business here. We are talking about small business between people who knew each other. Do you take low bid when people do work around your house?

I know my competitors, and some are friends. That doesn't mean they aren't competitors. At the end of the day, I've got mouths to feed, so fuck em. It's business first.
Depends on the work being done. Sometimes, yes, low bid wins. Skilled work, I'm more likely to pay more for a more professional job.

But, just like condoms and women's rights, I don't believe in them.
I need one built too. 5' tall dog eared. Straight 64' with easy access. 1 wooden gate. Galvanized poles need to be set at 7' apart. Nobody behind my property so you can pull right up to the work area.

I guess we differ in business opinion. It's easy to have my opinion when you aren't "starving" though.
