  • Where to cash in coins (No Choo-Choo)?

My 2-1/2 gallon water jug full of coins is now full and I need to start over, someone said coin star charges 9%, if so fuck that, I'll just buy another jug. This is where I put my coin change at my bedside nightly, it took about two years to fill, not sure how much is in their but its heavy as fuck.

Call your bank. They usually have a machine at least at 1 branch. Plus they won't charge.

Check with your bank. Some will take it and sort it for you, though that is far from the norm nowadays. Smaller banks / CUs will be more likely.

Not sure who you bank with, but as stated before, most banks will do it for you and they prefer the Non-rolled type.

Also, I know a few banks that I have worked for had "coin counters" *(Machines) listed under services so perhaps us an ATM/Branch locator and keep you from having to drive around.

Sweet, I went to my bank last week and forgot to ask while I was in the lobby, I didn't see a machine though. I'm going to pay the IRS in coins this year, fuck'em!

Yes, I guess I will call a few around here, if not I will go to that one and then go to Elvis' house and see what kind of trouble we can get into...

If you bring them to me, and cover the cost of rollers, I'll roll them for 5%.

Hmm... I've never seen one of those at Chase before but I rarely go inside nowadays. My Credit Union does have a coin machine in the lobby that they charge no fee for though. Haven't had the opportunity to use it yet as it's been a couple of years since I've had enough change to make it worth the trouble and even then I used Coin Star (wasn't with the Credit Union at the time).

Last time I took rolled coins to a bank they made me break them all open so they could put them in the coin counting machine.

Take em to your bank. Heard most will accept them, but not sure where I heard it. Somewhere on the internet most likely.

If you use coinstar and put it on a gift card, amazon, chilis etc they don't charge the 10%. I use Amazon alot so I just use their machine and put it on an Amazon card.
