Try a 6 month extended refit period while being in a port and starboard/ port and starboard watch rotation.... Talk about a fuck job.

5:30am-6pm, either take watch from 6pm-11pm or sleep/ back up at 11pm-6:30 am (staying awake) work until 4-5pm. Go home, back to work to replay that shift for the next 24 weeks. No days off.

Oh and when I was in college, worked at lowes from 4 am till noon then autozone from 12:30 till 6:30 pm then went to class at 7 pm till 10:30. But I was off every Saturday and Sunday. Did that for about a semester and a half. Then just lowes normal 8 hr shift and class 5 days a week.

36 hours before I dozed. Had CQ and then had to go qualify with my weapon immediately after.

When I was in PA, I had a >24 hour shift about once a month, and worked between 70 & 90 hours a week. During the week of a big audit, I would work 8-12ish hours, then go home for a few hours nap, then come back, all week. I finally did that for a two week stretch, and decided it just wasn't worth it anymore. After that year, my sleep patterns, and the soundness of my sleep just haven't been the same.

During the last big snowstorm friend got stuck on a locomotive in the middle of nowhere they couldn't get him out so railroad payed him for 65ish hours. He slept almost the whole time. Also paid him to stay home for rest of december since federal law prohibits him from working more than a certain amount continuous.

He was one happy camper and railroad got screwed.

Seven straight 15 hour days, on my feet the entire time while running Cat5 cable, dressing it, terminating it, and testing it. That sucked.

Worked multiple 24-36 hour days preparing for large field ops back in the military. Having a good work life balance has been one of my top priorities since I got out.

I worked for a production company for a bit while in college, and did several overnight tear downs, went to class, and went back to work. Did that for three days, with just a nap here and there.

When I was in retail, I was in a spot that sent me to different stores to do rehab on them. Open from 8-6, lock the doors, move everything off the floor, remodel, and put it all back for two weeks straight. I think I added up that I got ten hours of sleep, and most of those were in my car in the parking lot, because it wasnt worth it to drive back home and back up there.

lately, Ive been working my normal 40+ a week, and turning wrenches on the side at least every day on weekends, and couple nights a week. Im looking forward to race weekend, it will be nice to be able to sit and do nothing for a few hours at a time.
