I had a week back in 2010 where I worked 5-6 days only getting 3-4 hours sleep a day. I normally work 7/12's for 90+/- days before days off. That week I was the only guy in my department and I could not get a back up to assist. It was an investigation that popped up, grew legs after the first interview and took off. The MPs used 2/12hr shifts so I had to work both of their shifts with them. Totally sucked.
Why is that even necessary? I've done two tens in a row but that was with a break in the middle to drive from one store to another. Like a dumb shit I volunteered for it because dumb and 18. Never made that mistake again.
I flew in last night, got about 3.5 hours sleep (first night in a hotel is always that way) then up at 4a to be on site by 5a.. working til 12 then back again at 5 for the rest of the week. If i can keep myself going, it'll be a 95 hour week.
Scott, i work in communications on the public safety side. we're doing some system work on live equipment so i can't leave until it's signed off on.
I've done this, or a very similar stretch a few times:
Day 1: 4AM until midnight
3 hours sleep then
Day 2: 4AM until 9 pm
sleep 1 hr
11pm until 1 AM
sleep 3 hours
Day 3: 4 AM until 4 PM.
So, ~51 hours in 3 days with 3 or 4 hours sleep a day in the worst part of earnings season. I ended up doing this probably 4 or 5 times out of 12 earnings seasons. That last day at about 5 pm when I got home I'd crack a Miller Lite, lay in the tub with the jets on for about 20 minutes then pass out for about 12 hours.

I want to like Slow99 since people I know say he's a good guy, but just about everything he posts is condescending and passive aggressive.
Most people I talk to have nothing but good things to say about you, but you sure come across as a condescending prick. Do you have an inferiority complex you've attempted to overcome through overachievement? Or were you fondled as a child?
You and slow99 should date. You both have passive aggressiveness down pat.
I've had more 36 to 40 hour long days than I care to remember. But then, that was during my military time.

Salary here. But i'll be taking a PAID week off when i get back to VA.. thats for fucking sure. not against my vaca time either. thankfully my company allows the managers to dole out flex time as needed.
I wished I made overtime on anything over 40. Our uplift only applies to the FIRST 40 and the remainder of the 84 hour standard work week is straigh time.
Then again, living on the worksite is a 24 hour job. My cell never stops but I just got a manager. So I can start pushing all that shit onto him now.
