They use the DMV records/CHL records to build the "database"
I question if Maryland had the ability to see that through his florida plate.

maybe the story is a bit BS...considering that there is "no" national database that we are "aware" of.

That is the big question. How did he know. Does Maryland have access to Florida's database? If so, why? And what would justify the LEO to do that deep a search?

I'm glad Texas is "private". I would hope another state couldn't get to Texas' CHL records.

"In response to a recent complaint about the Maryland Transportation Authority (MDTA) Police and a Jan. 12, 2014, Tampa Tribune article, a preliminary review indicates that all proper protocols were followed throughout the Dec. 30, 2013, 55-minute traffic stop on I-95, which was initiated for a speeding violation. The MDTA takes these allegations seriously and will continue to investigate this personnel matter."

So, the guy gets stopped for speeding, gives cop CHL, cop asked if he had a gun on him he says no, then asked wife if there was a gun in the car and she says that their might be. Officer thinks something is suspicious about it, and searches the vehicle.

Seems like a bit of over-reach on the cop's part, but the originally posted article wasnt really truthful or accurate.

Didn't the article state other cars were passing him and the LEO? If it went down the way the article stated, the LEO should lose his job.

I wonder what he will do after the lawsuit when he all but officially owns Maryland?

                          That is beyond ridiculous.
