I don't do the headlight flash warning. I enjoy watching people get caught up in speed traps. Sometimes if I see one during lunch hour, I'll stop and watch while I eat.

i drive a jeep on 35's, speeding is unpossible. for the record, i dont see why he cant legally stand there with a sign, just saying what kind of asshole "homeowner with a family" has nothing better to do with their time? we all have a few dumb "hobbies" i guess....

I suppose. I've seen people do similar things in smaller towns. I always appreciate any heads up I can get. Be it a sign, someone flashing their lights, etc. Saved me on multiple occasions on long trips. I don't always speed, but sometimes I'm just ready to get where I'm going, and tired of driving. This will cause me to drive faster than the usual limit.

Maybe he considers it his duty to fellow citizens to keep them from getting fucked by a money hungry department? He also doesn't appear to be doing anything wrong, they are just fishing, because he is messing with their game.

I had a friend who joined the Frisco PD and it was so bad he quit after a few months. Sounds like they have the same talent on hand these days.

He is more effective at reducing speeding than the LEO in this case. Heck, the city should probably budget to pay people to stand at different spots around town with those signs every day. It would be way better than speed traps. They'd save money on court costs too, but then it would generate less revenue -- but that's not the point of speeding tickets, right?

Just like the red light cameras that are "all about safety". So much so, that Dallas discontinued the program because they weren't generating enough revenu... errr, safety.

I drive that stretch of El Dorado several times a week going back and forth to the cages. It's 3 lanes in each direction. Someone going 3mph over looks up, sees the LEO speed trap, puts both feet on the brake Flintstone style and nearly causes an accident. There is nothing good coming out of a speed trap.

Seriously though, we should start a side business and contract to the cities. We could promise a reduction in speeding, collect a flat fee, pay some kid pennies to stand out with a sign each day, and then conduct a 'study' to show how speeding was reduced in the city. Word gets out, then we have a contract with the next cities down the line, etc. It wouldn't last long, but you could get paid and get out.

I've only had one run in with Frisco PD but it was kind of amusing.
Late one night I was leaving my gf's apartment complex, which was pretty ghetto and apparently a place where drugs are sold.
Cop pulls me over on Preston for no front license plate on my Mustang. When he gets to my door he comments 'Roll cage, huh? Thanks for not running from me'. It just struck me as an odd thing to say.
After asking me what I was doing at the apartments he let me go with a warning.

I applied there in 99/00 time frame. I went through their initial horseshit interviews and process. Back then, Frisco was still relatively small but we were told that the town has very key residents and when pulling someone over we needed to recognize that fact and maybe look for people that looked like they may be from out of town.
