  • Anyone else make Dodge truck owners sign a waiver that their dash will probably break in 100 places during heater box removal and that we take no responsibility?
Good judgment comes from bad decisions and a lot of that comes from bad judgment.

        I don't understand this.

Are you saying they broke due to mechanic negligence?

        • Cant say I ever broke a 99+ GM dash. Had a couple 95-99 (early) ones break the center mounts at the defrosters but thats because they dry rot.

Problem with 97+ Dodge dashes is they are made of powder.

          • I don't make them sign a waiver but we do discuss it. Usually, it is broken in multiple places already so they can't say anything.

              • What are you guys doing to these trucks to crack the dashes?

My 96 is perfect except for a little color fade, and my 03 is all but perfect, some of the vinyl coating is rubbing off where the wife likes to keep putting her damned feet.

My guess is the more time spent out in the sun, the more likely it is going to happen.

Sunshade cracked my fbody dash into a million pieces. The hot edges expanded while the cool center pieces decided to crack

Still asked me to look, basically the truck was riding on the lower control arm with no suspension movement. I couldn't see under far enough to tell what was really going on but he was asking about the upper ball joint. In my 30 second in the dark parking lot appraisal it appeared the upper ball joint had failed or broken and the truck was completely bottomed out on the lower control arm. His response was ok cool thanks and drove off into the night.

Dodge Ram dashes crumble to dust. One guys '01 ish dash was broken a little but the bezel had been broken and glued back together like a mosaic. I begged him to at least buy a new bezel from the Dodge dealer. It was in stock and I told him I would go get it, sell it to him at cost and reinstall it for free since we were doing a radio anyway. Nope, just glue the pieces back together.
News flash: If your '07+ GM truck dash is not cracked yet, it will be.

Yeah, a dodge dash is a piece of shit. All the trucks we had at TxDOT in college were cracked out. I think they were that way from the factory.
