The 2.5 is timing chain driven. Loss of compression to me indicates the car overheated and has a blown head gasket, or was starved of oil.

Seeing as how the head was taken off most likely had a bad head gasket. I do not recall the original poster mentioning if the head was sent off to be rebuilt

I'm not physically looking at his car or anything so you're probably right.

If it was a piston ring the car should have had smoking symptoms, even then re assembly would be more complicated because the whole engine was dis assembled to replace the piston ring. Then there is also a possibility of damage to the cylinder walls

I went to Vatozone to get some brake pads for my wife's truck. The guy there was trying to sell me some of the brake grease they have and he mentioned how much it helps it stop better. Wondering how it helps it stop better, I asked him where he puts it on the pads and he mentions on the brake surface. I asked him twice more to make sure he or I didn't misunderstand each other. I would have asked for the manager. That guy is going to kill someone. Actually I don't mind calling and being the bad guy if you know the store and counter guys name.

Not sure if the guy was pushing the anti-squeal stuff or the silicone grease to use on the sliding pins.

He was pushing the stuff you put on the back of the pads to help stop chatter. Its a copper grease and they have little blister packs of it. They get bonus points for selling it. What I do to avoid chatter is not use Duralast pads and I always turn/replace rotors. Aint had a single car chatter yet.
